Gate Sentry Introduces SoloPass: The End of Gate Codes, Keypads, and Kiosks; displacing age-old technology

PR Newswire

SoloPass marks a fundamental shift in property access, completely eliminating traditional access codes and dedicated access hardware. Gate Sentry is disrupting the access control industry by replacing outdated infrastructure with a mobile-first access control framework, providing seamless, single-tap smartphone access.

DALLAS, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Gate Sentry, a leading provider of hardware-free access control and visitor management solutions, today announced SoloPass; a new mobile visitor access technology that moves entry from gate codes, keypads, and kiosks directly to the visitor's smartphone. Visitors receive a secure, device-bound pass and simply tap the SoloPass on arrival to unlock or open the entrance; no app, account, or access code required.

Visitor uses Gate Sentry’s SoloPass to open the gate directly from their phone.

Gate Sentry's SoloPass moves visitor access from gate hardware to the visitor's phone with secure, single-tap entry.

For decades, visitor access at unguarded entrances has largely depended on the same basic model: give the visitor a credential, such as a gate code or proximity card, then require them to interact with equipment installed at the entrance.

Access codes became a standard solution because they offered a simple way to provide temporary access, but once a code is shared, there's little control over where it goes or who is using it. The industry responded with more sophisticated hardware, from callboxes to touchscreen kiosks, but the basic model remained the same: visitors still mostly used codes and had to interact with equipment installed at the entrance. That equipment also comes with costs to purchase, install, maintain, and eventually replace. The technology improved only slightly over 40 years, but the model didn't.

SoloPass disrupts that model entirely, moving visitor access from equipment at the entrance to the device already in the visitor's hand, their phone.

How SoloPass Works:

  • Instant Mobile Delivery: When an authorized resident or administrator adds a visitor in Gate Sentry, the visitor receives a unique SoloPass link by text message or email.
  • One-Tap Entry: On arrival, the visitor opens the pass and taps "OPEN" to unlock the gate, with no app download, account, or code required.
  • Non-Transferable Passes: Each SoloPass is locked to the visitor's device, so the pass cannot be forwarded or shared.
  • Automated Expiration: Passes can be issued for single-use visits or a fixed duration and expire automatically when the access period ends.

"For years, the access control industry has focused on selling hardware at the entrance. We asked a different set of questions: Why does the property need to spend money on any type of access hardware when every visitor brings more advanced technology with them? Why should a visitor need to interact with hardware at all?" said Michael Rendon, CEO of Gate Sentry. "SoloPass moves that experience to the visitor's own phone in a very secure way. Instead of just turning an old keypad into a 'new' touchscreen keypad like all others in this space, Gate Sentry is revolutionizing the entire industry by eliminating the hardware in the first place and removing friction from the access control experience."

The result is a faster, more secure, and elevated visitor experience from invitation to entry. Visitors arrive and enter with a single tap, without codes to remember or unfamiliar equipment to navigate. Residents and users can send secure access directly to a visitor's phone and receive a notification when they arrive, giving them greater visibility into every visit. Administrators and security teams know who was granted access and when it was used, while device-bound passes prevent credentials from being shared or transferred. For properties, less visitor-facing hardware means lower installation and maintenance costs, fewer points of failure, and less equipment to replace over time.

SoloPass is available now for gated communities, multifamily properties, commercial and industrial facilities, private clubs, resorts, and other properties with controlled entrances. To learn more, visit Gate Sentry.
