Ontario International Airport soars to #2 in J.D. Power's 2025 North America Airport Satisfaction Study

PR Newswire

ONTARIO, Calif., Sept. 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Ontario International Airport (ONT) has climbed to new heights in the latest J.D. Power North America Airport Satisfaction StudySM, ranking No. 2 among all medium-sized airports in North America. The Southern California gateway advanced from fourth place in 2024, further cementing its reputation as one of the nation's most passenger-friendly airports.

ONT earned a customer satisfaction score of 709 – just four points behind top-ranked Indianapolis International Airport – and ahead of Buffalo Niagara International Airport, which placed third with a score of 698.

"Moving into the No. 2 spot among medium-sized airports is a tremendous honor and a true reflection of the passion and professionalism of the entire ONT family," said Atif Elkadi, Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA). "We've always believed in what this airport could become, and this recognition shows how far we've come. Still, we won't be satisfied until we reach the very top because that's what our community deserves. None of this would be possible without the vision of our Board, the dedication of our employees, and our airport partners. Together, we're proving every day that ONT can stand shoulder to shoulder with the very best."

The J.D. Power study measures passenger satisfaction across seven key dimensions, including ease of travel, level of trust, terminal facilities, airport staff, and the food, beverage and retail experience.

ONT's strong performance comes on the heels of earning Level 2 Accreditation for Customer Experience from Airports Council International (ACI) earlier this summer, making it one of just 17 airports nationwide to achieve such recognition.

ONT's back-to-back industry honors underscore the airport's commitment to its growing customer base. Passenger volumes have risen 75% since the airport's return to local ownership in 2016, and ONT is on track to serve more than 7 million travelers this year.

"Airports are more than just transportation hubs, they are the first and last impression of a community," Elkadi added. "At ONT, we take that responsibility to heart. This recognition affirms that travelers see in us the same energy, hospitality, and diversity that make Southern California so special. We're proud of how far we've come, but even more excited to keep raising the bar and showing the nation what our community is capable of."
